Match Report
9 – 1
Leicester City LFC U14 ’66 – vs – Mowbray Rangers U14’s
23 Sept 2018 – KO: 10:30
Ref: Eva Johnston
This was a game the girls were looking forward to, it’s always been a very fast paced game and has always been a test for the girls. The girls started the game fast and moved the ball around quickly pulling the Mowbray players out of position to create the space needed. Sophia was quick on their heels and after a lovely passing move between Rhianna, Dulci, Darcy, Drew then Ellie Sophia was through on goal and smashed home on the 4 minute mark.
The 2nd goal quickly followed and with some beautiful passing and moving football between Ellie and Sophia, sent Ellie to the edge of thebox for her to turn and rifle a shot that left the keeper standing for the girls 2nd of the match.
The girls took the pace of the game down slightly and moved the ball around the midfield and defence looking to draw the Mowbray girls ontothem to find an opening and that came in the 17th minute as Evie sent a ball through for Dulci to run onto, skip past one and send a 20 yardshot into the roof of the net for their 3rd.
The game took an unfortunate turn and after the girls had picked the ball up from the restart and sent Ellie through on goal a coming togethersaw a very strong tackle send her off balance and fall awkwardly on her knee, bringing an end to her very impressive start to the match.
The girls rallied and pressed on, Sophia added a quick double to complete her hat-trick for the teams 4th and 5th then ran over to Ellie andtold her that was for her.
Half time came and a few words of wisdom from Fergies doppelganger and they started the game at the same pace. A fantastic sequence of passing right from Faith in goal all the way across the back line from Sienna, Megan, Evie and Katie forced the Mowbray players back and Drew found the pass through that sent Darcy one on one with the keeper for her to chip the ball over her and glide down the inside of the net for number 6.
Goal number 7 was a very similar goal with the girls moving the ball around at the back and bringing it forward and finding Dulci on the edge ofthe box for her to unleash and leave the keeper rooted.
Mowbray girls found some space down the right and managed to force a corner, from the corner came their 1st attempt of the game and what a header it was, the girl rose and put some real power into the header that smashed off the underside of the bar and in to make it 7-1.
The girls were not happy to conceed and from the restart opened the Mowbray defence up and sent Drew through to round the keeper and bury for number 8.
Drew added her 2nd of the game just before the whistle with some lovely football from the whole team that sent Drew through again for her to sit the keeper down and smash home.
Final score 9-1.
Managers comments; I felt a little bit of nostalgia today, this team reminds me of the team that was so dominant at under 10 level.
The way they passed the ball and the trust they have in each other was amazing to watch.
