Desford U14 Girls – vs – Leicester City LFC U14 ’66

21 Oct 2018 – KO: 12:30

Ref: Steve Hill
Mark: 98/100

The game started quickly with us alot of possession early on and having a few efforts that forced some very good saves from the keeper. Desford were set up very well and passed the ball around nicely in the middle of the park but couldn’t find a way through our defiant defence.
They did try long balls over the top to catch the defence with their very pacey Striker but the defence of Megan, Evie, Sienna and Katie took care of that with our amazingly brave keeper Faith driving at the on rushing attacker to gather the ball.
The game sprung into life for the girls around 25 minutes in with Dulci forcing a finger tip save from the Desford keeper, then Rhianna sent in a low cross that Sophia could only direct just past the post. The girls continued with their assult on the Desford goal with Demi going close after a fantastic pass from Drew sent her one on one for her to fire just wide of the mark.
Half-time came with the scores level, a quick drink, a couple of substitutions and some words of wisdom from the boss saw Ellie get some match time to help with her return from injury. She went down the left and Darcy went down the right.
Within a minute of the restart the 1st goal came from Ellie. An early cross from Darcy, wrong footed keeper, who fumbled and Ellie ran on and finished superbly.
The girls pressed on and added a quick 2nd goal through Sophia, Faith goal kick, was flicked on by Drew, Soph picked it up just past half way and ran through 2 and smashed home.
A very unfortunate late tackle on Faith saw one of the Desford girls come off alot worse and the game was halted for 15 minutes while she received treatment for a suspected break to the leg.
That took quite a lot of sting out of the game and it took till just before the end for the girls to kick back into life and add the 3rd.
Darcy took the short corner and a rocket from the tightest angle smashed past the keeper gave Dulci her 1st of game.

The match finished 0-3

Was really good to see Ellie back in the line up getting some match time after her injury.
Update on the Desford girl with the suspected broken skin showed it was a really bad bruise and she’ll be back up and running for our next encounter in a few weeks.
