Leicester City LFC ’66 U15’s vs Rugby Town Girls U15’s
08 Sept 2019 – KO: 12:30
Ref: Eva Johnston
2nd game into the season was now upon us, the girls were ready for the challenge and wanted to put in a good performance against last season league cup winners. Rugby took their centre and game started very quickly, the girls pressured Rugby from the off, Sienna won the ball in the middle of the park and fed a ball out wide to Rhianna for her to skip straight through the backline and head for a 1 on 1 with the keeper and forcing her to make a very good save.
The keeper kicked long and Drew collected the ball well and pressed it forward to Jasmin who linked up with Mia to send her through on goal and open up the scoring with a very tidy little finish from distance.
Rugby kicked off and replied instantly with a pass out wide and a long ball into the box for their striker to run onto and knee into the back of the net past the out rushing Faith in goal.
The girls rallied themselves and grab the ball out the net and ran to the halfway line to get the game going again. Mia kicked off, sent it back to Sienna who moved it to Megan, she looked inside and found Drew for her to take it forward and send Daisy into space who whipped in a low cross and found Mia and the net was bulging again restoring the teams lead.
The girls won the ball straight back from Rugby’s kick-off and looked straight away for another opening, dragging the defence from side to side Sienna played a ball to Mia on the edge of the box, she turned and pulled the trigger to complete her hat-trick.
Rugby kicked off again and moved the ball around well, finding a way down the wing the girl broke through but Katie coming across slid in, won the ball well and set off on her travels forward, she found Erin out wide for her to smash a shot that the keeper tipped on to the bar but Mia was following up and tapped in the rebound for number 4.
Again kick-off for Rugby and they held the ball well between their backline until the pressure of Rhianna cause a loose ball and from 30 yards out Mia struck the ball, it hit the post and went in for number 5.
Half-time came and the girls had a quick drink and a chat with that Fergie lookalike, about what they needed to do for the 2nd half. A substitution also saw Rhea come on for Megan.
The girls kicked off for the 2nd half and went straight at it, Rhianna made the run down the left, cut inside and fired low straight across the keeper to open her account for the day and add the teams 6th.
Rugby with the restart held the ball well and moved it around the midfield. They tried to create a space in the backline but Evie shut the door and with a clearing volleyed sent the ball into the Rugby half, Daisy latched onto the ball and cut into the middle, fed Mia who played her back in and she let loose a shot that was heading just to the outside of the post when Rhianna popped up and slotted it home but unfortunately she was deemed offside and it would have been by the tightest of margins.
A quick substitution saw Daisy come off for a rest and Lydia take her role down the left, she entered the fold well and her pace put pressure on the backline from the off, she picked up a pass from Drew, found Mia who turned the defender and smashed into the top corner from the edge of the box for her 6th of the game.
As the game was drawing to a close a long ball over the top caught our backline out, Faith came out to meet the ball and clear it but a Rugby girl got a hold of it and sent one of the other girls through to add their 2nd.
The ref was getting ready to blow for fulltime when Rhianna broke down the left and fired a ball across the edge of the box for Mia to add yet another one to her tally, as the ball bobbled up in front of her she volley it straight past the keeper leaving her rooted to the spot.
Final Score 8-2
