The team’s 3rd league game of the season was upon us after a break the weekend before, we faced Rugby again at their new ground on a very heavy 3G pitch.

The girls started the game quickly and put a lot of pressure on the Rugby backline, looking for and opening Jasmin sent a ball through to Mia who skipped inside, fed the ball out wide for Daisy who fired in a low cross and Rhianna was at the back post to pull the trigger and force the keeper into a great save.

Rugby kicked long and tried to win the ball in midfield but Sienna was holding well and collected the ball and spread it back to Rhea in defence, she worked it back to Faith and with a cheeky little chip out to the left fed Drew who sent Daisy into plenty of space for her to cut inside and skip past the last defender to fire a low shot and force their keeper to tip it around the post. The resulting corner was sent in by Erin which Drew met with a bolt of a header that brushed the top of the bar and over.

The game progressed and it wasn’t until the 21st minute when Daisy worked a ball inside from Sienna, she sent it through for Mia to collect on the edge of the box and she unleashed and the net rippled.

Rugby kicked off and that goal seemed to have spurred them into life, they pressed forward and tried a few times to make so headway down their left hand side but Meg and Evie were up to the task and thwarted their advance forcing them backwards.

New girl KatieN replaced Erin who picked up a slight knock when she made a very strong defensive challenge. Then Rugby registered their 1st shot but Faith stepped back as it sailed wide of her far post. Rugby carried on to press but KatieQ and Evie proved to be up to the task and were the wall that they could not breech. KatieQ collected the ball on the edge of the centre circle and sent Rhianna storming down the right, she skipped past one, cut inside and then fired a ball out to the edge of the box for Mia to pull the trigger and hit the  outside of the post.

Halftime came and the girls had a quick drink and gathered their thoughts, Jasmin took a rest and Erin came back on to sit next to Drew.

Rugby took the kick off and the girls went straight in and won the ball back through Drew, she sent it forward to Sienna for her to find Mia, a quick 1-2 with Daisy made room for the shot but as she did the Rugby Town girls moved her hand in the way and blocked the ball. Erin stepped up and from 30 yards sent the ball into the top corner leaving the keeper just spectating.

Rugby pressed from their restart and tried their luck down the left but KatieN was upto the task and won the ball well, she moved it inside to Meg for her to launch a ball through the gap and find Mia in space, she skipped past one, sat the keeper down and added her 2nd of the game on the 50th minute.

Jasmin came back on to replace Sienna and straight away the girls picked the ball up and were on the attack, KatieQ sent Daisy down the left for her to skip inside, and force another very good save from the Rugby keeper.

Jasmin had found her feet since her return to the pitch and collected the resulting kick out of the keeper’s hands, she moved the ball inside to Drew, she then found Jasmin in space then she sent Erin through on goal, she fired the ball and the keeper managed to save but could only push it back into Erin’s direction and she wasn’t going to miss the follow up to add her 2nd and the teams 4th on the 61st minute mark.

The girls pressed on and Rugby managed to find some space behind the girls backline and head through on goal but the out rushing Faith was up to the task and cut the angle down nicely, she parried the shot and managed to collect the loose ball before the follow up could be met.

New girl Amii came on for Mia and moved into a centre forward role, she was only on the pitch for around 30 seconds when she almost opened her account for the team when a ball over the top saw her control it and unleash a 35 yard volley that brushed the wrong side of the bar.

Scarlet came on down the left for Daisy.

The girls moved the ball out to Rhea, she sent a cross field pass out for Rhianna who struck and forced the keeper to push it wide.

Erin stepped up and took the corner, a very clever little move saw her play it short to Daisy, as Erin ran around she collected the ball and let loose a ball that floated over the keeper and crashed against the inside of the top corner to finish off her hat trick for the day.

Final Score 0-5
